Croatia joined European Union on 1 July 2013. After many years of effort finally became a regular member of the European Union. What is Croatia’s accession to EU will change and how the change will affect ordinary tourists?

European Union so far consisted of 27 states. Last spread in 2007, when it adopted Bulgaria and Romania. Czech Republic is a member of the European Union since 2004. Croatia applied for EU membership in 2003, but only this year, this Balkan country will become a osmadvacátým Member State. Croatia’s membership in the European Union, especially traveling easier, because the citizens of the Czech Republic, but also in other EU states will apply the principle of free movement of persons. What does this mean in practice?
Cancellation of customs duty

From 1 July 2013 will no longer be at the border customs controls on imports, exports or trade in goods between Croatia and other member countries of the European Union. Will be allowed duty-free transfer of a commercial character for personal use to the value of € 300 per person, air and water transport, the limit is € 430. So if people do not trade with food, they will be able to Croatia to bring everything they need.
EU Schengen is not

But be careful! The fact that Croatia’s accession to the EU does not mean that all will be abolished border controls. The country is accession to the EU does not automatically become part of the Schengen area, this step is planned for 2015. It should ensure the external Schengen borders on land and at sea.
The documents are necessary

At the entrance to Croatia so will the citizens of the Czech Republic and other EU countries no longer required travel documents, which will be the output of the country controlled by the border police. From 1 July this year, will travel to Croatia to not only your passport as well as a valid identity card of the Czech Republic. For a trip to the sea will no longer suffice only citizen. Children under 15 years must have their own passport.
One-stop operation

I will continue to work on border policing, enforcing the laws that fall within the competence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Croatia. At some border crossings (Hungary, Slovenia) will be shared border controls, which speeds up the passage. It does not need to stop on the side of Croatia, as well as to the neighboring Member State of the European Union (entrance and exit). A check will be in one place and everything will be settled in one stop – the one-stop operation. This news will especially appreciate tourists who come to Croatia by car. The possibility of simplifying and accelerating the passage of borders yet Croatia with neighboring countries belonging to the EU acts. The first is one-stop check allegedly introduced the Croatian-Slovenian border crossings Bregana, Macelj and Rupa.
